Finding Balance and Healing Through
Sound and Yoga

About Me

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, but my nomadic soul has taken me all over the world to experience other cultures and I have lived in more than 20 cities the past 20 years. Working as a Marketing Director in Corporate America the last two decades, I found a common thread among colleagues, friends, family, and even the occasional stranger… that people seek and benefit from taking time to reconnect with their mind, body, spirit and give back to their overall health, but many don’t know how exactly to do this efficiently and effectively in an exhausting, stressful, and over stimulated world.

I sought techniques to lower my own stress, reconnect and stay healthy while living a busy lifestyle. I’ve always been fascinated with naturopathic and holistic healing remedies. Sitting at my desk 8 hours a day, I was first drawn to physical movement and stretching beyond my regular workout routine of running and HIIT classes. I decided to further my yoga practice of 15 years and completed my 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with YogaWorks in New York City, which focused on connecting breath with postures and movement. I went on to complete my 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with YogaMaze in Los Angeles where I learned a variety of advanced teaching methods and philosophies.

During my yoga practice and instruction, I am always drawn to a good playlist! I feel the right sounds, beats, and rhythm add so much to a yoga experience. My love for music and sound, led me to complete my 100 Hour Soundology (Sound Healing) training in Los Angeles with Lauren Rose (Peace Love Soundology), where I studied the history of sound healing and scientific impacts of different instruments, tones, notes, and vibrations on the mind, body and spirit. Creating a safe, loving environment for my clients and the community to heal and benefit from the beauty of sound, is where my passion lies.

I’m thrilled to bring a unique, holistic sound healing experience, where you will ‘bathe’ in sound vibrations from crystal singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, and other instruments. Enjoy all of the healing benefits by simply lying down, breathing deeply, and keeping an open mind. Our bodies our intuitive. In a meditative (theta) state, they know exactly what they need to receive and where, in that moment in time. Each sound bath will trigger a different experience and reaction, depending on what you need (consciously and subconsciously) that day. I play my instruments and combination of sounds with specific intentions that allow the energy vibrations from the instruments to be channeled and flow directly to you. I welcome anyone interested in giving back to their overall wellbeing!

More About Sound Healing

Sound moves the spirit, touches the soul, taps into emotions, triggers physical response, and can impact our mental state. The beauty of sound and music is that it is universal, it resonates with all of us, no matter the class, creed, age, culture, religion, etc. This is because we are all energetic vibrating beings. Sound taps into these vibrations. “Every cell in our body is a sound resonator, Every cell lives in a dynamic rhythmic pattern. Each and every system has a cycle, rhythm, pattern, and pulse that exist in resonant harmony and sympathy to the cycles of the earth and the heavens. These body systems respond to sound vibration, as do our spiritual, mental, and emotional states of consciousness.” (Donna Carey, Lac) Our bodies are made up of 70% water, an excellent conductor of vibration. Sound healing leverages instruments to shift brain waves, opening up possibility for relaxation and healing on many levels.

Throughout history and cultures around the globe, ancient sounds created through voice, instruments, and the natural environment, have provided healing and spiritual connection. Variations of Sound Healing or Sound Therapy date back thousands of years to indigenous people of Northern Australia, Native Americans, African Tribes, ancient Greece (to only name a few!), where music was used to boost morale, treat body ailments, and cure mental disorders.  Tibetan Monks have used gongs for deep relaxation, muscle regeneration, joint pain, sciatica pain, digestion, headaches/migraines, circulation, and spinal injuries.

In recent years, music and sound healing has been linked to a number of scientific health benefits where sound synchronizes brain waves to achieve deep relaxation, restoring the normal vibrating frequencies of the cells in our bodies. Every organ, bone, and cell in our body has a resonant frequency, and when we feel tired, sluggish, unmotivated, physical pain, or stressed, sound can help reset these subtle energy fields. “The adult body is made up of 75% water, a great conductor of energy and sound vibrations – when vibrations travel thru the body, they promote circulation, energy flow, and rejuvenation” – Malbert Lee

Each instrument creates a different frequency that vibrates in your body and helps guide you to the meditative and restorative state. By using particular combinations of rhythms and frequencies, it is possible to shift our normal beta state (alert, concentrating, reacting) to an alpha (creative, relaxed), and even theta (meditative state) and delta (deep sleep) where restoring and healing can occur.” Sara Auster, Brooklyn-based sound therapist

Other potential benefits include lowering anxiety, stress, blood pressure and cholesterol, sleep disorders, mood swings, post-traumatic stress disorder, cancer, Alzheimer’s, autism, and dementia, etc. A combination of Gong therapy, crystal singing bowls, and tuning forks can release tension throughout the body and open blocked energy channels (chakra alignment), trigger nitric oxide in the blood, and stimulate red blood cells opening up the blood supply to all organs and throughout the body. Sounds are heard through the ears, pass through the auditory nerve, and then the vegas nerve, stimulating every organ in the body (particularly the liver and kidneys).

Gong therapy – the power of the gong vibrations can create effortless relaxation taking the brain into a deep meditative (theta) state, where mental, physical, and emotional healing takes place. This meditative state can be achieved in as little as 60-90 seconds of deep listening. Being in this relaxed state can reduce stress, remove emotional blockages and align the chakras, and can stimulate altered states of consciousness. I use a combination of the Paiste Planetary (Chiron) Gong and Unlimited Dark Star Gong.

Tuning Forks – Dr. John Beaulieu (ND, PHD composer, Mental health Counselor and Naturopathic Doctor) has researched the biochemical effect of tuning forks on the nervous system. Vibrations transferred to neuronal, endothelial and immune cells through tuning forks can stimulate nitric oxide, setting off a cascade of physiological impacts on our health, well-being, state of mind, and consciousness. Impacts take place as the molecular level. I use a combination of the weighted Otto 128 tuning fork and BioSonic tunic fork set in my sessions.

Singing Bowls – Singing bowls are each tuned to a different note . They can remove energy blockages between the chakras, significantly reduce stress, stimulate the immune system, improve circulation, relieve pain in the joints muscles and shoulders, help with digestion, calm overactive adrenals, lower blood pressure, increase mental and emotional clarity and much more. I use a variety of Crystal Tones singing bowls made of the highest (99.992%) quartz crystal and finest gemstones and precious metals such as 24 karat gold, silver, and platinum, making the audible sound incredibly clear and resonant. “The high-grade quartz crystals in every bowl can help amplify, focus, transfer and transmute energy, transforming not only the bones and tissues, but penetrating the sub-atomic structure of the cell, creating the same benefits to conditions of the body as some prescription drugs.” Tryshe Dhevney, SoundShifting.com

In addition, I use Koshi chimes tuned to the different elements, a Sonic Wave Drum and other various instruments to create an all-encompassing sound bath experience for my clients.

What to expect when attending a Sound Bath

You will need to bring a few items to fully enjoy your sound bath experience. Dress comfortably, wear your mask, bring a yoga mat, light cover up or blanket, eye pillow or wash cloth to cover your eyes. Optional items would be a bolster, pillow or any additional items to keep you comfortable in a lying down position for the duration of the bath.

The first few minutes allow space for you to settle in, relax, and set your intention for the bath. I begin each session with a simple breathing exercise to bring you into the present moment and help relax the mind and body. You will remain in a lying down (or comfortable position of your choice) while I play the instruments, and I will lead you out of the bath after a few moments of silence, with the sound of my voice.  No prior meditation or sound bath experience is required. It’s my mission to make sound healing approachable and accessible to anyone who is open to trying it!
